Hi folks! I’ve been such a bad blogger lately, and for that, I apologize. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t have a bit of the Covid blues right now. And with us losing an hour for Daylight Savings Time, I’ll be driving to work and coming home in the dark. Boo! I truly hope things have been going ok with you. On a much lighter note, I’ve got several items for this month’s PPU to share with you. This month’s theme is Red Carpet which can be taken many different ways. New to PPU? If so, here’s how it works:
PPU starts Friday, Nov. 6th at 11:00 AM ET and ends on Monday, Nov. 9th at 11:59 PM (but if a polish has a cap and sells out before the end of the pre-order, it’s gone, unless you get lucky and the cap gets raised…which is rare) on the PPU website. The website just opened up today for wishlisting, so go check out this month’s offerings STAT. Time for swatches!
Starlight and Sparkles Silver as the Moon, Shining as the Stars! (3 coats)
Inspiration: Janelle Monae’s incredible look at the Oscars this year! I loved her dress, and her jewelry and makeup were fantastic (her performance was amazing, too!). The dress (by Ralph Lauren) is a silvery grey and covered in crystals. The long sleeves, hood, and open back combine to create a unique, elegant design, even before the choice of fabric and embellishment.
Cap: 150/US 15/UK
“Her dress and her overall look immediately made me think of fairy tales. There’s an element that shows up in several fairy tales, where the girl in the tale comes to have or wear three dresses – one as golden as the sun, one as silver as the moon, and one as shining as the stars. I thought this dress could easily work for both the moon and the stars (and it’s so pretty, who wouldn’t want to wear it twice!).”
It’s a medium grey crelly base with silver holo pigment and fine silver holo glitter. When this one hits the light right, it’s just sparkles. I love grey and I love holo, so this one stayed on my nails a few days for sure. I used 3 thin coats for my photos, and it dried slightly dull, so use a topcoat to really let it shine. I love this one!
Starlight and Sparkles Red Carpet Ready Charm and Page Marker Set
Inspiration: The sparkling, colorful, beautiful jewelry worn on the red carpet!
Cap: 50/US 5/UK
Yay, another page marker set from Starlight and Sparkles, and dare I say, they may be my favorite to date! There are six markers and one clippable charm (the one in the middle) in this set. The charm is a crystal pendant in a twisted drop shape, almost 7/8” long (just the crystal, not the whole charm). The page markers have six different colors of glass rivolis, each with an iridescent coating which is a blue hue. Going from left to right, and then down each row, the base colors are: lavender, peach, celadon green, teal, topaz, and pinkish crimson.
I tend to use the page markers for my books and cookbooks, and my husband uses them for classwork. I put the clippable charm on most of my pouches and bags. Of course, the world is your oyster here! These use rectangular paper clips, a stainless steel lobster clasp, rhodium plated settings, 12mm glass rivolis, and silver lined glass beads. There’s just so much glitz and glam with these!
Static Lacquer Wilde Beauty (3 coats)
Inspiration: Olivia Wilde’s black and rose gold dress
Cap: No Cap
There you have it, folks! A few of these items have a cap, so it’s best to add your items to your cart the night before the sale goes live. You need to have an account and sign in first before adding your wish listed items to the cart. Easy peasy. What do you think? Which ones are you picking up?
